I recently heard a suggestion for decoration in a little girl's room - framing some jointed paper dolls in various poses. The idea was interesting to me , though I would be sad to see these movable pieces frozen forever.....maybe finding a way to display them tucked into a ribbon board would be the best of both worlds.

Artist Trading Cards

Creating Artist Trading Cards (ATC) has become wildly popular, but I only just heard of it recently. They are miniature pieces of art on 3.5 x 2.5 in. trading cards and the mediums range from watercolor to multi-media collage. Some are created as one of a kind or limited editions (ACEO) and are actually sold, but otherwise they are designed for swapping, collecting and trading , with artist information conveniently found on the back side.

The display of these pieces is almost as cool as the work itself. I would love to find one of the shows or display galleries and check these little masterpieces pieces out in person.

The concept of swapping and collecting art cards is so cool. There is information out there on how to design cards if you are interested and also how to swap them. If you already have the perfect piece in mind and just need the cards- they are widely available too.


Artists are always in search of ways to capture their creations and share their art. This is the perfect little way to do both.

Paper Blossoms

Everything about fresh flowers in a home appeals to me- everything except the lifespan. Although these paper blossoms from Paper Source are obviously not the same, they are beautiful and everlasting.

My favorite is the poppy bouquet above- maybe this summer they will find a home on my mantel.


These lily pads would be great place settings for a spring or summer shower:

I still love fresh flowers, but I am easily convinced that these blooms are awfully lovely too.

Thursday, a paper town, and Etsy

I say why bother getting a pre-made, pre-set, or perfectly matched paper village when you put together your own by filling it with the unique and beautiful paper structures found on that lovely Etsy site.

To begin, as a city girl I would surely need at least one skyscraper in my paper town (via seasprayblue):




And who doesn't want a historic cottage? I like this one, which is based on a design by S.B. Reed, an architect who was popular during the period following the Civil War (via CatalogHouses):




Every town also needs needs an adorable little home that doubles as (why not?) a super cute gift box (via chia83):

"Petit Flaneur" makes the sweetest hand-crafted children's toys, cards, and art. But I am just wild about their doll houses made out of hand-painted pressed wood -- I love how the houses and all their furnishings look like vintage paper (yes, I do indeed love a flammable home).

Wedding Cranes

Paper cranes- I have always thought they were beautiful and intricate. I remember learning how to fold them in elementary school and I am in the process of teaching myself again.


I have been admiring how folks have incorporated the paper crane into their weddings. It is fantastic because they are not only visually interesting, but symbolic of love, honor, prosperity, and peace. Whether it be the cultural and symbolic significance or the style element that appeals to people, these pieces of paper art are a great addition to the event.


Strands of paper cranes can somehow be dramatic and bold or peaceful and delicate.
