Led Zeppelin-a-Day: "In the Evening"

I think this is at their last show in America -- Oakland '77. Which therefore has no relevance to "In the Evening", but I'm running out of Led Zeppelin photos!

"In the Evening", In Through the Out Door
"In the Evening" is maybe the best song on In Through the Out Door. "In the Evening" commences with a droning, distorted introduction, and swells into a world of synthesizers and guitar repetition. Is JP on Strat? It sounds like it. This song is alright. Not absolutely thrilling, but just good enough. The guitar solo is spellbinding in a you've-done-better kind of way. The tone is right on, and the momentous build-up of the track is enough to keep one intrigued. To be fair, I have gone through phases of heavy "In the Evening" listening, the main riff can be occasionally bewitching. It simply doesn't stand up as a favorite, nor is it a standout of their catalog. That's all she wrote!Source URL: https://jimhensons.blogspot.com/2010/02/led-zeppelin-day-evening.html
